Excited :)

I have a new pattern out in the September/October issue of Quilty magazine!!! Hope you love it as much as I do!!!

It's happily titled Candy Coated Raindrops!
I had traveled from San Diego to Portland for work this past February. Since my trip would be two straight weeks, I HAD to bring my sewing machine along! I put this together in my hotel room, very fitting while being in Portland in the middle of February!!

I used various fabrics from my stash including low-volume/text prints for the background blocks and bright cheery colors for all the raindrops.

You can also find the pattern in PDF format here.

Well, off to get some more prep work done before Sewing Summit- WOOT WOOT! 3 more days!!

WOW-

Well, a lot has happen since May! Let's break it all dooooown:

My birthday- loads of fun! Being 32 is kinda amazing! :)

Oh yeah, then we decided we're moving to Portland, Or (and only had 3 weeks to do it)!!!
We had to find renters for our place in San Diego, pack all of our stuff, rent a truck, find a place in Portland and start a new job all in 3 WEEKS!!! It was crazy- but it worked and everything fell perfectly into place!

Goodbyes-

Moving it or lose it-

It's kinda amazingly gorgeous around here- and the temperature is kind of like San Diego! For now anyway...

Then we had our 10 year wedding anniversary! 10 YEARS!- Crazy how time just flies by!

We finally managed to get situated and unpacked, etc... and I was SO STOKED to set up my new sewing loft. It's pretty lonely since I haven't had much time to sew. I've only managed to complete a pillow top and a baby quilt. I have a loooooooooooong list of things I want to whip up, but the day just gets away from me. Hoping to make some time this weekend to catch up on bee blocks!

It's pretty hard being in a completely new place not knowing anyone- and to be honest, I'm a shy person! I was super excited to hear about the Portland Modern Quilt Guild Meet Up and couldn't wait to meet other people who share this crazy passion for sewing/quilting! I met some awesome awesome peeps and had LOADS of fun!

I even got to take a quick paper piece class and completed this pretty feather.

Well-that's where I've been in a nutshell- pretty crazy couple months, but I finally feel situated. I miss my friends and family dearly, and get pretty down sometimes- but a little sewing cheers me back up again! :)

Busy Little Bumble Bee...

Pretty quiet on the sewing front around here... I only managed to finish the "Stellar" quilt. I adore it so so much. I do think it's my all time bestest quilt I've ever made! For those that don't know, Lizzy House is my all time favorite designer. I think Constellations is my favorite line yet, but I do say that after every new Lizzy release! (Have you seen CatNap yet?? Those mice)! Anyway, on to the show:

I made a paper-pieced star block on the top right, and placed a heart inside. I felt red binding would work well with the red heart, and I'm very glad I decided to do so- It looks perfect! In my opinion anyway :)

I also threw in some yellow to balance things out a bit.

This quilt was very much inspired by a song that I LOVE entitled Stellar by Daddy's Groove (bad word warning). The lyrics are just simple yet mean so much.

It's been pretty busy in my neck of the woods lately. We are headed to Oregon in 2 weeks!! I've packed, moved stuff out, had a garage sale, looked for a new place, seeking renters for our current place, and still made a little bit of time to sew! WHEW- I'm pretty pooped, but there is still a ton to do. I'm going to miss California, but my family and I are elated to start a new chapter of our lives in good 'ol Portland! It's going to be so awesome- I can feel it!!

This past weekend was my last San Diego Modern Quilt Guild meeting. These girlies are amaze-balls! I was super stoked to find a Modern Quilt Guild in my area and connect with others who shared my same interests/hobbies! They will surely be missed!!

Off I go... thanks for visiting. :)

Giveaway Day & A Finished Quilt!!

Today is Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway day!!!

I'm so excited to snoop around blogland! It's a great way to see some great talent, new blogs and get totally inspired- not to mention you could be a win some great goodies being offered!

Up for grabs are two Comma Charm Packs by Zen Chic. Simply leave a comment advising your favorite charm pack pattern! I'll pick a winner on Friday 5/10/13.

I have a new quilt to share!! A friend at work asked me to make a baby quilt for one of her friends, so I jumped at opportunity to use these 16 patches that I made a few weeks ago. The pattern comes from the Liberty Love book by Alexia Abegg. I totally love this book- and need to jump back into working on my Marcelle Medallion quilt!

I used up some of my favorite fabrics for the 16 patches, and added this sweet print from Aneela Hoey's Posy line. I think it makes a perfect quilt for a new baby girl- wouldn't you say?

I'll be back Friday to post a winner- thanks for stopping by!

Fabric + Paint

last weekend was my SDMQG meet up, and boy did I have loads of fun! We have such a great group of ladies!! This month I shared my experience with painting/stamping on fabric. It was so much fun to play with inks, stamps and sprays.

I stamped this lovely bunny print and absolutely adore it to pieces! I'm working it into a 16 patch quilt.

This piece was tons-o-fun to do! I simply stamped the numbers on the fabric and threw on some splatter/spray paint (fabric paint of course).

I created this pillow top as a sample of incorporating hand printed fabric with regular quilting cottons.I definitely see more stamping/painting fabric in my future- the possibilities are endless!

I didn't get much sewing done at this sew-in meeting because my new pal is a HUGE distraction!!! Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts designed this sweet pattern called Chopsticks. I love this pattern, and totally have plans for making another one! I got to gift this quilt to Julie at our meeting. I'm so glad she loves it as much as I do!

I've got a design wall full of WIPs, bee blocks, and a super secret project I've been working on! I can't wait to share!

And- who's headed to Sewing Summit this year? I'll be there - WOO HOO!! I hope to meet a ton of cool peeps!

So much to share!

Geez- worst blogger ever!!

It's gonna be a big one, so let's get started!

First things first, I finished the SDMQG donation quilt for QuiltCon!! I loooooove the way it turned out, and the blocks are so so beautiful! I do hope it brings some little kiddo joy and warmth!

Then- my sweetest, most awesome flickr bestie came to visit with her hubby for a few days!!! It was SO.MUCH.FUN!!! We went out and saw some beautiful sights in San Diego, stood the night in Palm Springs, sewed our hearts out, went fabric shopping, ate lots of food, and just had a wonderful time!!!

It was loads and loads of fun!

We even got to meet up with Kelley and her gorgeous kiddos! Crystal had never been to Jamba Juice before so it was a super sweet treat!

I managed to finish the binding on this beauty while we visited Palm Springs. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The colors, the cool fabrics, and super rad pattern by Julie Herman entitled Chopsticks.

I was super sad to see Crystal and her hubby leave- it was tons of fun! I hope we can visit again soon!!!

I did manager to finish my Weekender though! I adore it! I want to make another one ASAP!! It was time consuming, but not scary as I thought. I think the next one I will include the piping just to give it a whirl. Isn't it awesome?? It's so "me"!!!

That's all I have to share for now!
